SSBB Weekly Update #1 - 9/28/07 @ 4:24

Hi, and welcome to my Super Smash Bros. Brawl weekly update, part 1. This week, in a list, the news were: Trophies, Diddy Kong's Final Smash, Mr. Resetti, Pokemon Trainer's Final Smash, and Tournies. Oh yes, and before I start, you;ll probably want to take note that it would help you if you open the links in new tabs or windows. I'll start with the Trophies...

Trophies are prizes you can earn from all kinds of things. The Trophies can be anything- Characters, Vehicles, Items, anything. In SSBB, you can view any one trophy from any angle. You can view all of them at once in a "thumbnailed"-type browser thing. You can also view all of your trophies at once in a large array arranged by series. You can even just view a couple of them at once, in any order you like.

Next, Diddy Kong's Final Smash. He fires up his rocket barrels and begins flying around the course. Meanwhile he pulls out his peanut popguns and starts shooting everywhere. Eventually, when time runs out, his rocket barrels explode.

On Wednesday, they announced Mr. Resetti from Animal Crossing. He is an assist trophy. Basically, all he does is pop up out of the ground and start lecturing. Here's an example.

Almost there...On Thursday, they announced the Pokemon Trainer's Final Smash. It's called the Triple Finish. Basically, Squirtle uses Hydro Pump, Ivysaur uses Solarbeam, and Charizard uses Fire Blast. Here is the image showing the move.

And Finally, Tournies. Basically all it is is a tournament where you can customize things like time limit, players(including CPU's), damage ratio, etc. This article is bery detailed and it's mostly contained in images so click here to read it.

Well, that's it for this week, look forward to seeing next week's edition of Super Smash Bros. Brawl weekly update.

Also, you may have noticed that I moved the other news to the archives. This is to save room. I'll put this article and others if applicable in the september archives too later after there is more news on this page to suffice for the September news being gone. I'll also leave the article below this one up to, just because.

New Affiliate - 9/27/07 @ 5:55

I just added a new a new affiliate- Super Mario Legacy! It's a great Nintendo fan site. It's worth your time to visit them. Also, you're probably wondering on why I haven't updated on the SSBB news lately. I've decided that I'm going to do a SSBB update every Friday night. They will overview the entire weeks SSBB news, since the Super Smash Bros website updates every weekday. Other news I will still include on the day that it happens. In other words, every other piece of news that I get I will display normally.

SSBB: Snake - 9/21/07 @ 11:29

Smashbros.com added new pages for Snake. The pages include a music clip, his special moves, and just his profile page. To see it all, just go to smashbros.com. I didn't really look at the article very good so click here to go to the homepage. I'll post some screenshots below anyway.

NSider Forums Down - 9/20/07 @ 4:55

Since September 17, the Nintendo NSider Forums have been down. They claim it is for maintenance reasons only. During this time, the forum pages will be able to be viewed in read-only format. Every thread is locked so there is no way you can post. The forums will be closed indefinitely and we are not sure when they will re-open. If you want to visit the site, This is the Link.

SSBB Updates, etc. - 9/20/07 @ 3:49

I wasn't able to update yesterday so I'll write yesterday's SSBB news today also. Yesterday, the official Super Smash Bros website showed a few of the enemies that populate the subspace emissary. Click here to see the full list of them. I'll tell you what, after looking at all of them, they don't look like the weakest enemies ever created to me. Some, namely Shaydas and Roader don't look all too easy to beat. Anyway, today, they announced Piplup (item). It can use Surf to wash over the stage. The catch is that anyone who is unfortunate enough to get caught in it's wake will be washed off the edge. It's cool I guess if you're not the one getting washed off. To view Piplup's item page, click here.
In other news, I've been working on a few dowloadable website layout templates for anyone to use. I know I really should be workign on the new site layout now but I don't get very much time on the computer these days. Oh well. I'll try and get those up for download later.

SSBB: Nintendo WFC - 9/18/07 @ 3:06

Finally they announce the WFC part of the game! The article was kind of long so I'll only cover the surface. You can Brawl with friends or people around the world. They really go into detail about how the farther away you are from your opponent, the slower the game is going to be. You can also change you're profile icon (which is pretty cool I guess so you can pick a yoshi icon and use Samus instead, thus tricking your opponent). You can also send pre-programmed messages during the battle using the directional pad. Before matches, while you're waiting you can also practice on a sandbag to get warmed up. Last they also said that they were planning many wi-fi wervices, but they were still working on them and that they would announce when a new wi-fi game came out. If you want to read the full article, click here.

SSBB: Golden Hammer - 9/17/07 @ 4:00

Super Smash Bros already has a hammer, why does it need another one? Well, I guess a Golden One would be pretty cool... It's more powerful than a normal hammer making it more deadly. Unlike the other hammer, the head will not fly off after excessive use.It appears on a pedestal, and when you press the swing button fast enough, you can even float in midair. Cool. Despite these things though, there are a few bad things. For one, it's pretty rare, and for two, it still has flaw (namely squeaking when swung). Nonetheless, it seems like it will have it's advantages in the game. Screenshots below.

A Golden Hammer? What next, the Silver Banana Peel?

Official Online Pokemon GTS launched - 9/15/07 @ 11:05

Either today or yesterday, the Official Online Pokemon GTS was launched. It is a nifty website that shows all of the Pokemon that are being traded and are available online right now. It's very cool, and if you have Pokemon Diamond or Pearl or you are a Pokemon fan, you should check it out. Be warned, the site takes a while to load, and if you have a pretty slow computer and internet connection... Well, it might be loading for the whole day. Anyway, I uploaded a screenshot of it in action so click on the image below to see it. Oh yeah, if you want to visit the site, click here.

SSBB: Ice Climbers - 9/14/07 @ 7:21

Ice Climbers? OK. Well, we'll just make the best of it. On the site, they don't give hardly any information on these guys except a few things. The blue one's name is Popo and the pink one's name is Nana. Nana follows Popo during your brawl. The only other piece of info they give is this little bit: "There’s safety in numbers—protect and be protected!". So, yeah... Maybe they'll reveal more later. Screenshots below.

I'm not sure what to think about these little guys.

SSBB: Special Brawl - 9/13/07 @ 3:25

You're probably wondering what in the world a Special Brawl is. Special Brawl is where you can customize your "brawl" to however you like it. You can change anything, like what items you use, the angle that you play at, what your head looks like... Seriously, you can customize almost anything! Even the gravity! In the screen where you set all of this, you can preview what the brawl will be like. In the example on smashbros.com, it shows a Stamina Mega Flower Curry Heavy Slow Angled Brawl. Whoa! This mode makes way for some serious fun. Trippy, huh?

See what I mean? There's so many possiblities!

SSBB: Battleship Halberd - 9/12/07 @ 12:12

The Battleship Halberd, probably better known as "Meta Knight's Ship", was announced today on smashbros.com. It is part of the Subspace Emissary (adventure mode), and is also a multiplayer stage. When the fight first starts, you are on a hangar. Soon thereafter, you are able to jump onto the ship's deck to fight. The deck is more dangerous than ever, with a battery ready to shoot you with missles, a laser, and even a long grabbing arm. I would advise extreme caution here. This is looking like it's going to be one of the more fun multiplayer stages. Screenshots below.

I dare you to try to do the Matrix on that laser beam.

SSBB: Lyn - 9/11/07 @ 4:34

Well today is September Eleventh, and as a lot of us know, the World Trade Centers were attacked 6 years ago. Keep that in mind. On a lighter note, we have some new SSBB news for you today. When I checked smashbros.com today, I thought, "Who the heck is Lyn?". It turns out that Lyn is from Fire Emblem. Unfortunately, she is an assist trophy, not a playable character. Still, though, she can pack a powerful punch. "She wields wields what looks like a classibal Japanese sword" (smashbros.com). In a flash of light she disappears. In another, she reappears and hits you with her sword; HARD. If you are the one who called her, try and hold on to your enemies to make them easier to hit. Screenshots below. Also, as I almost forgot to mention, I added the Guestbook so it will be back up. Click Here to sign it.

If I were you, I would avoid that sword at all costs.

SSBB: Munchlax - 9/10/07 @ 5:50

A new SSBB "item" was announced today which is... Munchlax! He is the pre-evolved form of snorlax in Pokemon. Munchlax walks slowly around. When it gets to an item it eats it! Make sure to get the item before Munchlax does. Screens below.
EDIT: (6:15) How could I forget the Yoshi Games? I just added a section for all the Yoshi games. A new list for you, more work for me. How many pages do I need to write now? Probably over 50. How many have I done? 3. Crap, I've got a lot of work on my hands...

New page added under a Pokemon - 9/8/07 @ 10:15

Resuming my very, very long quest of writing pages for mostly every Nintendo created game ever, I made the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Red and Blue page. You can visit it here. Now I'm kind of tired plus my dad's kicking me off the computer so I think I'll go to bed...

SSBB: Lots of music news - 9/7/07 @ 3:45

Today 3 things were announced on smashbros.com. And guess what, it all has to do with music! All right first off, the game has a function in it called My Music. You can use it like a Nintendo music player- it plays a bunch of Nintendo songs that you unlock. If you see a CD in a stage pick it up! It will give you a new song. For the other news, they put two new SSBB songs on the site. One is the SSBB Main Theme. The other is called Pokemon Stadium/Evolution. If you care, you can go listen to them. Screenshots below.

SSBB: Pkmn Stadium and Mario's special moves-9/6/07@8:03

Today on smashbros.com, they revealed Pokemon Stadium 2 (obviously an arena). The arena can switch between a plain stadium, or become themed by electric, flying, ground or ice. The arena looks like it will be quite enjoyable. Next, mario's special moves. THe first one is FLUDD, from Super Mario Sunshine. With FLUDD, you can blast your enemies away with water. However, the blast does no damage whatsoever. That doesn't mean it won't be useful though. And last but not least, Mario's other special move is Mario Tornado, all though if this is a special move they did not make very clear. Images below. SSBB is looking like it's going to be a great game. In my opinion at least.

Top 2; Pokemon Stadium, Bottom 2; Mario and his special moves.

SSBB: Meta Knight - 9/5/07 @ 6:22

We've known for quite some time now that Meta Knight would be in Brawl. Yet they're just now making a page for him. Meta Knight probably just about the coolest character ever. Make sure to click on the picture below and visit the link.

Meta Knight

SSBB: Diddy Kong's Special Moves - 9/4/07 @ 2:55

Today on smashbros.com, they announced Diddy Kong's special moves. The first one is the Peanut Popgun, which obviously shoots a peanut. Beware, if you hold the shooting button too long, your gun will explode! The second special moves is the Rocketbarrel Boost. In this one, you put on a sort of barrel jetpack thing and it launches you up.
In other news, the new layout is coming along pretty good. Obviously it's taking a long time. For the images, i'm a little over halfway done. But with the base layout, i'm not even halfway done...

Pit's Descent - 9/3/07 @ 2:25

A new video was added to smashbros.com. You can view it here. I don't want to spoil it for you so go watch it.
EDIT(s): Made a new Featured Site and added the Previous Featured Site section

Cleaning Up Home and Announcement - 9/1/07 @ 5:00

Well today is September first, and like I promised I moved all of the updates to the Updates section. This has resulted in a dramatic decrease in it's file-size. So now the page will take a lot less time to load, and it's not quite as long(in length).
Now for the announcement. I've decided to change the layout. I think the current one is just way too bland. This time I'll get it right. It might take me some time but hopefully I can get it done soon. I'll tell you how it's going as I work. For now, I'll just leave the pages as they are, and update news and stuff. But in the background I'll be working on the new one. Just keep waiting...
