The Cardless Card Trick

1. Tell a person to think of any card in the deck besides the Joker.

2. If their card is a number card, it's value is it's number (ex: 8 of spades is equal to 8).

3. If their card is a royal card (ex: king of diamonds), then a Jack is worth 11, a Queen is worth 12, and a King is worth 13.

4. Now tell them to multiply that number by two.

5. Tell them to add three to that number.

6. Tell them to mulitiply the number by five. (I think I'll add a multiplication script here because a lot of people seem to have a hard time multiplying numbers by 5.

7. Now here's the part that makes sure you can't just reverse the equation.

8. If their card was of Hearts, tell them to add one. If their card was of Spades, tell them to add two. If their card was of Diamonds, tell them to add three. If their card was of clubs, tell them to add four.

9. Now ask them for their number and enter that number into the box below, and watch in awe as the complex javascript uses calculus algorithms to read their mind and generate the card they are thinking of in simple text form nicely inside a pop-up alert box.

If you think you know how this trick works, e-mail me. If I think that you are worthy of the knoledge of how it works, I'll tell you. If not, I'll tell you otherwise...
