Guide to Noxus Presented by hybridgoomba.com Version 1.1 Table of Contents: I. Introduction II. Explanation III. Recommendations IV. Terms V. Background VI. Weapons VII. Countering Bipeds VIII. Countering Alt Forms IX. Biped Tactics X. Alt Form Tactics XI. Conclusion *Note: Sorry for the strange layout of this guide in .txt format. It originated as a .doc file so it was difficult to convert to this.* I. Introduction I'll start out by saying this: I'm definitely not the best Noxus user ever. But that doesn't mean I don't have something worthwhile to say. Sure, other players have made Noxus guides that might have been better than mine. I know that. But that's OK because this is the first guide I've ever written and its purpose is to help someone. Other than that, I'd like to say that I know that I'm not the best Noxus user out there and that a lot of you could beat me with ease. I don't really care, but I know how to use him well, and could use him more efficiently if I played more. There might be some information you didn't know about or have never heard of in this guide, such as My Alt-Form Tactics. Enough of this, let's get to the guide, shall we? II. Explanation Noxus is powerful- if exploited properly. So why aren't there a lot of Noxus users? He's hard. Noxus takes skill. Unlike other hunters, he doesn't have any lock-on features like Samus's missiles or Kanden's charged Volt Driver. All of your shots must be aimed by you and not by anything else. He's also slow. Vhoscythe can't speed-boost, and his maneuverability is low. So why would anyone want to use Noxus? Because if you're good enough, you can kick butt. If you want to be someone with true skill, then Noxus is your gateway. III. Recommendations To best exploit Noxus to his maximum capability, I recommend the following. Use Stylus mode. This enables you to aim quickly and accurately. It also allows you to shoot at the ground efficiently and quickly for shadow freezing. There are some good Dual Mode users out there though; don't change if you don't want to. Also, use a DS Phat (the original DS) if you can because according to other NSiders, the buttons aren't very useful for MPH on a DS Lite. Now you're ready to play. IV. Terms SF- Shadow Freezing- Aiming downwards facing your opponent level to your opponent. Will only work if you are both in the same vertical direction. SDF-Shadow Death Freezing-Shadow Freezing then Imperialist blasting in the head (zoomed). Tribomb- This is what happens when Sylux's Lockjaw forms a triangle with his bombs around you. This can do tons of damage so try not to get stuck in one. V. Background Noxus is a member of the Vhozon- a proud and reclusive race. He plans to get the ultimate power first to keep it out of the hands of lawbreakers and the unworthy. His alt-form is Vhoscythe, a spinning top-like figure who's attack is an extended blade that does approx. 40 damage. VI. Weapons Judicator- Noxus's weapon of choice. Charged shots allow for freezing capabilities. It is highly recommended that you use this weapon. It can deal a considerable amount of damage and is a potential threat to enemies. Power Beam- Just a gun that can shoot energy rapidly. If you are a hardcore power-beamer, and all you use is the power beam, you should probably choose a hunter with a faster alt form. But if you use the power beam and the judicator (charged), use Noxus. Missles- High-damaging weapons that can take out an enemy in a few hits. Use only if you run out of Judicator shots. In other words, use sparingly and only if you have to. Volt Driver- Not recommended for beginners but if you're good with it then sure, go ahead, why not? Magmaul- Same recommendations as Volt Driver. Imperialist- Sniper beam. Use at long distances if you can't SF someone. Also used in SDFing. Highly recommended weapon. Shock Coil- Electric flamethrower-like thing. Use sparingly- there are better weapons to use than this. *cough* Judicator *cough*. Battlehammer- I don't really recommend it, and if you're good with it, you're better off using Weavel. *Section VI End Notes- It may seem like I'm shunning most of the weapons, but hey, if you're good with a weapon, use it.* VII. Countering Bipeds Samus- Don't even start to tell me how annoying her missiles can be. Shadow Freeze and hit repeatedly. Avoid missiles at all costs. You will die quickly if hit enough. Keep at a close distance from her to make use of Noxus's Freezing capabilities. This will also make the user afraid of their own missiles. Kanden- Another annoying enemy of Noxus's. quickly destroy him by freezing and hitting. When a charged Volt Driver shot comes your way, move quickly and don't change to alt form. The shot will hit you easier because you are slow to turn. Like Samus, try getting up close to limit their weapons but avoid their alt form while in Biped- its hard to hit and can whop the damage on you heavily. Spire- The third and final annoying Noxus enemy. His charged magmaul shot will hurt you a lot. There's not much advice here, but just dodge his shots and shadow freeze him from long distance, if possible. Even uncharged magmaul shots are hard to avoid due to the fact that you can't dodge them very well with your alt form. Watch out! Trace- If you listen well, you will learn that Trace isn't such a threat after all. It's common knowledge that you're not supposed to hold still when sniping, so Trace users normally move around a lot anyway. So you have potentially equal chances of killing him as he does you. Grab an imperialist and fire back. If you're not very good at sniping, stick to the normal tactics; freeze and kill. Alt form is neither recommended or non-reccomended. You're maneuverability is low so he can hit you easily. But it's hard for Trace users to hit you at close range so that's your advantage. Sylux- Make sure his Shock Coil doesn't suck a lot of life out of you. It's hard to win after you die once because he can get health from your death and have an advantage when you respawn. Freeze and shoot, as always. Keep at long range and shadow freeze. If needed, whip out your trusty Imperialist and kick his butt. Last, don't attack him with your Vhoscythe- he'll just change to lockjaw and tribomb you easily as Vhoscythe is slow. Noxus- SDFing is always a tactic good Noxus users try to master so just SDF back. Remember that he can freeze you too so avoid that. Vhoscythe isn't a great attacking technique because he can freeze you easily, but do what must be done. Weavel- His Battlehammer can pack a heck of a punch so jump around a lot. Keep him up close to make him avoid using the Battlehammer and hurting himself. Remember that many Weavel users are glitchers so keep that in mind. Freeze. Shoot. Kill. *Note- It all just depends on how good the user is when fighting.* VIII. Countering Alt Forms Morph Ball (Samus)- Get up somewhere high and start power beaming. Why not the judicator? It takes longer to be able to shoot the next shot with the judicator but with the power beam it's just like bam, bam, bam and you have infinite ammo with this thing. Avoid combat with Vhoscythe. Her bombs can kill you fast and she can speed up way faster than you. Stinglarva (Kanden)- Get up high and hit with missles because he's squirmy, moves fast and the missles have a larger blast radius to nail him with. Avoid combat with Vhoscythe because stinglarva's bombs easily track Vhoscythe. Dialanche (Spire)- Again, get on higher ground but freeze him with the Judicator because he's slower and easier to hit. Avoid contact with Vhoscythe because dialanche can do unprecedented amounts of damage and can hit faster than you can whip out your blade. Triskelion (Trace)- Many people don't tell you to do this but I say use the power beam and wreak havoc on this little bug. You can do damage faster with the power beam than he can with his lunge attack. Jump back and forth over him to make it hard for him to aim. Vhoscythe is a good choice if you can broadside him but you're and easy target. Remember that he can do around 50 damage while you can only do 40. Lockjaw (Sylux)- Ah, no! Tribombed again! So what are you gonna do about it? Make your name known as Sir Jump-a-lot of course! If you didn't get that then I meant jump a lot. Lets move on. Jump up onto a high place and power beam like crazy. He's fast and hard to hit so doing so will increase your chances of hitting him. DO NOT switch to Vhoscythe! Doing so will make you an easy target for a tribomb. Remember that you're too slow to avoid a tribomb. Also, if you can freeze Lockjaw, just hit it with a ton of Judicator shots, so as to deal the most damage possible as quickly as possible. Vhoscythe (Noxus)- Again, use the power beam on it and get up on something high. Use Vhoscythe only if you know for sure that you have more health than the other person. With Vhoscythe, both your blades hit each other and do 40 damage to each person. In the end, the person with the most health wins. Half-Turret (Weavel)- You've got two choices here: go for the turret or go for the top part. I recommend you go for the top part but I'll go into details for each. For top-part-annihilators, you should actually use Vhoscythe for once! Repeatedly attack him. Weavel's form makes it hard to attack Vhoscythe and even if he does he will get more damaged than you will (I think). Just keep running into him but back off if he goes near the turret. Also, take all the health he tries to take. And change to biped and shoot it if he tries to run some other health. To defeat his turret, I recommend either of the following. Shoot with the Imperialist then strafe, back up, and shoot again after it stops shooting at you. The other method is shadow freeze then snipe. IX. Biped Tactics Shadow Death Freeze- Shadow Freeze the person and snipe them in the head with the imperialist. Wall Push (Offensive Glitch)- In areas where glitches are in abundance, there are certain walls that you can fly through. When an opponent is being forced backwards against one of the walls, shoot a charged missile at them and they will hopefully fall, die, and lose a point. Freeze Push- In certain arenas where you can fall and die without use of a glitch, freeze the person and use your body to push them over the edge. Minus a point for them. Freeze deflect- I've never tested this but according to many Noxus users it will work. Charge up your Judicator. When an opponent fires certain shots at you like the charged Volt Driver release your charged blast when it gets near and the shot will be deflected. Experiment when other people shoot different weapons at you to see what is deflectable. X. Alt-Form Tactics "Bouncing"- A name for a tactic I use but have not mastered. You may have never heard of the term "Bouncing" because that's what I call it and you could have heard it as a different name. Nonetheless, it is an effective tactic that should not be overlooked by any Noxus user. What you do is switch to Vhoscythe. Start with your normal offensive techniques but wait until your opponent jumps. Now get right where they will land. If done correctly, the person will land on the center part of your spinning form, slide down a little, and hit the blade. This will cause them to bounce upwards and then you can make them land on you again, but make sure you extend your blade again. Do it until they die, get out of your range, or switch to alt form (as this is dangerous) and then either try bouncing them again or switch to your biped and assume normal biped offensive technique. *"Bouncing" Notes- Bouncing is an extremely hard tactic to master. In fact, the most bounces I've ever gotten is 2. This takes skill.* Wall Pushing- Pretty simple. Sometimes in areas where glitches are in abundance, wall pushing is available. Thus, using Vhoscythe, you may make the opponent unexpectedly fly through the wall. This will subtract a point from their score if they die. Vhoscythe Soccer- Yet another term I made up but still effective anyway. This tactic is most useful against Samus. Switch to Vhoscythe, and hit the Morph Ball around until they die or switch to Biped. Fun to play with D/Cers when they D/C (for a few seconds at least). XI.
